"Soon, we will finalize the plan, and the committee session has considered its main provisions", said Mr. Fradkov.

According to the prime minister, the counterfeit products circulation in Russia has reduced by 20% in 2004. However, much is left to be done in this sphere, he stressed.

According to him, the ministry will coordinate the activities of all the bodies concerned, while the Education and Science Ministry will coordinate the intellectual property rights protection activities of the ministries and agencies.

Mr. Fradkov emphasized that the intellectual property rights protection was "a vital topic for Russia".

"In the negotiations on Russia's accession to the WTO this is one of the key issues. It is also important and interesting for us to establish equal competitive conditions for intellectual property on the Russian market", said the prime minister.

According to him, counterfeit products interdiction is one of the strategic tasks in the economic sphere.
