VORONEZH, JUNE 24 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian government supports the idea of creating a single national aircraft-building corporation, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has said.

"The idea has been supported and merits development", the prime minister told journalists.

At the Voronezh conference, the theme of corporation was not minutely discussed but only singled out as an element of support for domestic aircraft manufacture, which is to become a competitive sector of the economy. This theme deserves consideration as a case apart, Fradkov said.

He believes that the quality of Russian planes is not worse than of second-hand Boeings.

"A second-hand Boeing is not better than a Russian Il-86", Fradkov summed up.

He told journalists that he has been flowing mostly Russian Tu-137's and Tu-154's in recent time. "Our planes are OK. True, much depends on the crew, mood and air hostesses", he joked.

Mikhail Fradkov believes that, supporting domestic aircraft manufacturers, the government simultaneously supports the Russian producer. Eventually, our efforts will tell on comforts and flight safety, he said.

"We would like our passengers to opt for Russian planes, instead of Western second-hand machines. We can and must have good planes", the Russian head of government said.
