KHMELEVKA (Kaliningrad region), June 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu prized the interaction level of the rescuers from various countries during the Kaliningrad-2004 exercise. The practical phase of the exercise was conducted in the Khmelevka training range on Wednesday.

"Today the exercise showed well-coordinated operation of all the Baltic states' units and our interaction with NATO Civil Planning Department", said the minister.

The exercise involved Russian, Lithuanian and Polish rescuers and observers from 22 countries, including NATO states.

Mr. Shoigu pointed out that such close cooperation owed first of all to the specifics of the rescuers' work. "We have common goals and tasks, and I do not think that we have any contradictions. The main thing is to share with our counterparts the technologies, experience and everything that we have", he said.

The minister reminded that Russia's rescuers had wide practical experience of cooperation with foreign counterparts. He said that, in particular, they had worked together in Turkey, Iran, Germany, Afghanistan, Taiwan and many other countries.
