WASHINGTON, June 21 (RIA Novosti) - IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei welcomed Russia's position on joining international efforts on the disposal of nuclear wastes.

ElBaradei announced this at the international non-proliferation conference organized by the Carnegie foundation in Washington.

According to IAEA head, he is to discuss the initiative on joint disposal of nuclear waste during his forthcoming visit to Moscow.

The present system of export control in nuclear sphere has a number of drawbacks and needs consolidation, Mohamed ElBaradei noted.

For instance, it is necessary to limit the number of countries, which are permitted to produce nuclear fuel, he said. He also proposed to establish international control over this production.

Obviously, ElBaradei praised Moscow for its persistence in the return of wasted nuclear fuel from the nuclear power plant in Bushehr (Iran), which is constructed by Russian experts.
