MOSCOW, June 14 (RIA Novosti) - The Defense Ministry of Russia has dismissed media reports about clashes with Russian peacekeeping forces in Georgia's breakaway republic of Abkhazia.
Referring to sources at the security service of Georgia's Zugdidi District, Georgian media reported earlier today that a Russian peacekeeper had been killed in an armed clash in the Gali District Sunday. Neither the peacekeeper's name nor his rank were identified.
The Defense Ministry responded by saying that in the past few days, there had been no clashes involving Russian peacekeepers in Abkhazia in the past few days and that no one of them had been killed.
