OIL PRODUCTION TO GO UP 8.2 PERCENT IN 2004 SECOND QUARTER

MOSCOW, JUNE 9 (RIA Novosti) - In the 2004 second quarter, Russia's crude production is expected to stand at 111.4 million tonnes (814.3 million barrels), meaning 8.4 million tonnes (61.4 million barrels or 8.2 percent) increase against the same period of 2003.

Press release of the Industrial and Energy Ministry says that 61.3 million tonnes (448.1 million barrels), or 11.5 percent more than in 2003, may be exported form Russia by all kinds of transport.

The ministerial conference approved the calculated crude balance for the 2004 third quarter, intending a further growth of production to 112.4 million tonnes (821.6 million barrels).

"It is an increase by 1 million tonnes (7.3 million barrels) in comparison with the 2004 second quarter. The taking of oil beyond Russia is predicted at 63 million tonnes (460.5 million barrels) at a 1.7-million-tonne growth (12.4 million barrels) by the 2004 second quarter", the press release reads.

The growing production of motor and diesel fuel in the 2004 second quarter is expected to exceed the same period last year by 250,000 and 310,000 tonnes. The production of fuel oil will go 205,000 tonnes (1.6 percent) down.

The forecast for the third quarter of this year is: 7.8 million tonnes of motor gasoline (340,000 tonnes, or 4.6 percent more, than in the 2003 third quarter), 13.9 million tonnes of diesel fuel (440,000 tonnes, or 3.3 percent, more than in the 2003 similar period), 12.6 million tonnes of fuel oil (120,000 tonnes, or 0.9 percent, less than over the same time last year).
