ST. PETERSBURG, June 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Siloviye Mashiny Inc. has dispatched equipment and machinery for the construction of a new unit of the Porto Goes hydro-electric power plant, located near San Paolo, in Brazil.

As Siloviye Mashiny's PR Department reports, the shipment for the Porto Goes's new unit, with a power capacity of 13.56 MW, includes a hydraulic turbine and a hydro-generator. Representatives of the Russian company will be supervising the assembly works, scheduled for late July.

This is Siloviye Mashiny's first project undertaken in the Latin American country in the past twenty-five years. It has now launched several other joint projects with Brazil. Thus, for instance, under a contract signed in June 2003, it is preparing to manufacture equipment for the Corumba 3 hydro-electric power station (two hydro-electric generators, with a power capacity of 47.8 MW each). Also, pre-contractual work is now underway to supply equipment to the Brazilian hydro-electric power plant Murta (two hydro-electric generators, 61.5 MW). And at the year's end, the company will make a bid for the supply of electrical equipment

to the Estreito hydro-electric power station (eight generators, 138.65 MW each).

Siloviye Mashiny Inc. is a leading Russian manufacturer and purveyor of equipment and machinery for electric power stations and for electricity transmission and distribution, as well as of transportation and railroad equipment. It incorporates companies such as the Leningrad Steel Plant, Elektrosila, Zavod Turbinnykh Lopatok (a manufacturer of turbine blades), the Kaluga Turbine Plant, and the Energomashexport dealer. Equipment made at Siloviye Mashiny's plants is used in 87 countries across the world. The company's equipment installed in Brazil in the 1970s (specifically at the hydro-electric power plants Capivara and Sobradino) has a total capacity of 1,700 MW.
