ROSTOV-ON-DON/MOSCOW, June 7 (RIA Novosti) - Use of force will not settle the South Osset issue. "Sabre-rattling will bring no good. Things must go on the peaceful way," warns Vladimir Yakovlev, Russia's presidential envoy plenipotentiary to federal district South.

"Whatever is on in South Ossetia will have an impact on district South and on entire Russia," he pointed out.

South Ossetia is an unrecognised republic within Georgia. Their relations have recently come again to an edge.

The State Duma, Russia's lower parliamentary house, is badly alarmed. Its committees for CIS affairs and contacts with ethnic Russians abroad, for international affairs, and for security are gathering for a closed-door session Thursday next, June 10, to debate developments round South Ossetia, announced Andrei Kokoshin, committee head for CIS affairs and contacts with ethnic Russians abroad. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other high federal executives are expected to address the MPs, he said to Novosti.

"We shall take stock of the entire range of South Caucasian security issues," he added.

Russia's and Georgia's Foreign Ministries have come up with a joint statement the Russian ministry is offering on its official web site.

The ministries greet and support understandings made, June 2, as Joint Control Commission co-chairs met in Tskhinvali, South Osset capital. The ministries welcome whatever efforts to revive friendly mutual confidence of the Georgian and Osset peoples.

The developments make the ministries highlight the importance of decisions which confirm the pledges made by involved Parties in compliance with acting international agreements.

Georgia and Russia vouch to do everything necessary for the said understandings to be implemented as soon as possible, says the statement.
