MOSCOW, June 7 (RIA Novosti) - G8 leaders will discuss the Iraqi settlement at the summit on Sea island, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko told journalists on Monday.

"Among international issues on the summit agenda, the Iraqi crisis arouses Russia's special concern. The dialogue of G8 leaders is a good occasion to promote our approaches to the settlement in this country," the diplomat said.

"The summiteers will focus on common G8 approaches to key international and regional issues," Mr. Yakovenko noted.

According to him, Russia plays the role of a constructive partner searching for consensuses at G8 summits.

"It is well known that G8 members have more common interests than differences. The forthcoming June 8-10 summit of the leaders of industrially developed countries on Sea Island should boost G8 cooperation in such top priority spheres as the fight against international terrorism, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, settlement of international conflicts and solution of other global problems," Alexander Yakovenko stressed.
