Similar polls have been annually held since May 1997. They have shown that the number of optimists has grown twice (there were ten percent of optimists in 1997) and the number of pessimists has been significantly reduced. In 1997 40 percent of people claimed they were needy.
The statistic error in such polls is 3 percent.
According to the polls, Russians' protest activity has not been growing in the last 3-4 years. Only 20 percent of people of all ages, mostly Russians aged 25-35, are ready to support rallies and protest actions to defend their rights and improve living standards. Young people aged 16-25 are less inclined to participate in such events. Thus, the level of protest activity is decreasing with the growth of the well-being level.
