MOSCOW, June 4 (RIA Novosti) - The leading Russian developer of spacecraft, the Reshetov Applied Mechanics Scientific-Production Association, marks its 45th birthday on June 4.

"Forty five is not a round date but for us it means the attainment of professional class and new daring designs," the Association head told RIA Novosti.

In 2004 it produced the last spacecraft of the preceding generation, developed way back in the 1970s.

"Now we can focus on the production of 'long-living' satellites with a service life of ten and more years. Satellites of the new generation will play their role in improving the defense capacity of our country and can duly represent Russia in the international arena," he said.

The Association has all it takes to create new-generation spacecraft -skilled personnel and updated manufacturing capacities.

The Reshetov Association has a team of top Russian and foreign partners. Practicing a single philosophy, each of them can in a short span of time (from 27 to 32 months) and observing the international quality requirements work in cooperation to make international-class satellites.

The "choose-the-best" principle goes for also the foreign partner companies of the Association - Sodern and Alcatel Space (France), Astrium (Germany), NEC/Toshiba Space (Japan). The Russian Defense Ministry, Federal Space Agency, Federal State Enterprise "Kosmicheskaya Svyaz" (Space Communications) are among the permanent customers of the Reshetov Association.

A monument to Mikhail Reshetov, founder and first manager of the Association, will be built In Zheleznogorsk near Krasnoyarsk in Siberia marking the 45th anniversary of the Association.

"In charge of a young worker collective, Mikhail Reshetov in a matter of five years put the works to the forefront of space rocketry. The national importance of our Association follows from the fact that in the 1970-80s eighty percent of the satellites operating in near-earth orbits were made by our Association," said the head of the Reshetov Association.

It has created over 1,200 spacecraft meeting Russia's needs in the field of defense, information security, national economy and culture.
