MOSCOW, June 3 (RIA Novosti) - Religious activists are in duty bound to join secular authorities on the anti-terror cause, Ravil Gainutdin, High Mufti of Russia, said to a conference, Islam vs. Terrorism, underway in Moscow. "We religionists are to bring up the younger generation in the right spirit and enlighten the deluded. It is our another essential duty to promote effective government policies of crime prevention and detecting extremism at its initial formative stages."
"I hope this conference will demonstrate the true face and content of Islam. Many media outlets are misrepresenting our religion, while the Holy Koran repudiates violence, terror and murder," Sayid al-Barahimi, Moscow mission head of the League of Arab States, and one of the conferees, said to Novosti.
The Arab League has established an agency responsible for a dialogue between civilisations. It arranges conferences in many countries.
"Theories of a clash of civilisations are widely current nowadays. Ideas are popular of one civilisation superior to another. We cannot put up with all that. We are working for peaceful coexistence and a dialogue between civilisations. This conference is a stride in the right direction. Testifying to it are the agenda and the conferees' rank," said our interviewee.
