EURASEC IS EU'S "SOLE PARTNER", ITS HEAD SAYS

MOSCOW, May 31. (RIA Novosti) European Union and EURASEC (Eurasian Economic Community) countries are natural partners, EURASEC Secretary General Grigory Rapota opined when greeting the Eurasian business summit that opened in Evian, France, today.

"The Eurasian economic community is doing its best to put into life the positive constructive potential in relations with EU countries, the natural partners of EURASEC countries," the EURASEC Secretary General said in his greeting.

According to Rapota, "the corresponding agreements on the development of dialogue in a number of spheres between the two organisations inspires optimism and certainty that the positive trends in EU-EURASEC relations will gain the upper hand and become dominant."

"Sharing a common economic space with other countries and international organization, the EURASEC is ready for a closest cooperation with everyone interested," the statement reads.

Rapota stressed that the EURASEC had established good business contacts with the European Union as well as with the World Customs Organisation, the leadership of the UN Development Programme, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. A constant dialogue is underway with the OSCE.

Rapota wished participants in the Evian summit "fruitful work and every success in promoting cooperation all across the European and Eurasian regions."

The EURASEC comprises Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, while Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine are EURASEC observer countries.
