The Russian Information Agency Novosti begins Hotline coverage for Tuesday, May 25, 2004.

MOSCOW

* Mikhail Fradkov, federal Prime Minister, has the following conferences scheduled for the day:

- with Zurab Zhvania, his Georgian counterpart;

- with Pier Ferdinando Casini, President of the Chamber of Deputies, Italy's lower parliamentary house, and an accompanying delegation of Italian MPs;

- with delegates of the MEDEF, French employers' organisation.

* Pan Ki-mun, South Korea's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, is going on with his visit to Russia. Today, he meets in conference with Igor Ivanov, national Security Council Secretary.

* Alvaro Jil-Roblez, Council of Europe Rights Commissioner, is arriving in Moscow on a routine visit of May 25 into 28. He will meet at the negotiation table with Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

* President Hotel is hosting a Russian-Chinese conference on, "Russia-China: Frontier and Interregional Partnership".

* RIA Novosti hosts news conferences:

- Zurab Zhvania, Georgia's Prime Minister, on the present state of Russo-Georgian relations and their prospects, in a summing-up to his visit to Moscow;

- on the end of 2003/04 mini football National Cup games;

- on 2nd international Business Olympics-athletic games to be held in Moscow, May 28-June 5;

- on latter-day goings-on in Russian banking swindles.

* A national conference gathers on, "The Russian Pension System: Past, Present and Future".

* The All-Russia Exhibition Centre is opening an 8th international exposition, Rescue Equipment 2004: Russian Safety from Calamities, Man-Caused Accidents and Fires. Timed to it is a 2nd international symposium on, "Russia's All-round Safety: Research, Management and Experience" (May 25-28).

* Spokesmen of the MEDEF and the Russian Industrialists' and Entrepreneurs' Guild gather for one of their regular conferences.

* The Moscow Lomonosov State University offers a roundtable, "Research, Education, Upbringing and Religion".

* The Moscow Carnegie Centre holds a seminar on, "HIV/AIDS: Assessing Economic Effect on Russia".

* The State Tretyakov Gallery opens a show, Masterpieces of the Belarussian National Art Museum, one of the central events of Belarussian Culture Year in Russia.

* His Beatitude Alexis II, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, receives a delegation of Italy's Chamber of Deputies, led by Pier Ferdinando Casini, its President.

BAIKONUR, KAZAKHSTAN

* A Progress M-49 cargo ship will be launched, 16.34, Moscow time, to bring diverse freights, total weight 2.5 tonnes, to the International Space Station.
