VLADIVOSTOK, May 22 (RIA Novosti) - Winding up its friendly visit to Vladivostok (Russia's Far Eastern region) on Saturday, the Golden Bear training ship of the California Maritime Academy headed for America.

For three days 246 naval cadets, students (budding biologists, physicists, farming workers) and teachers from California were guests of Admiral Nevelsky State Naval University.

An ample program was prepared for the visitors, the press service of Naval University told RIA Novosti.

The Americans inspected the University Museum, where they got a sidelight on the history of naval training in the Russian Far East, and the simulator center equipped with updated facilities, instruments and units.

On Thursday cadets and teachers inspected the Nadezhda training sailing frigate, which completed a round-the-world voyage in late March.

American guests made a sightseeing tour over the city, visited the Vladivostok Fortress and The S-56 Submarine museums, the Arsenyev museum of regional studies, and the triumphal arch. Sports competitions and an international friendship party were held.

The discussion was of special interest because American and Russian cadets are trained in similar specialities and study at the navigation and ship-repair departments.
