MOSCOW, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian foreign ministry plans to transform Russian trade missions abroad into trade-economic departments of embassies. This was said Tuesday by Russian deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Denisov at a session of the Merkury-club.

"I am sure that our economic work abroad will considerably intensify after the long-standing reformation of our trade missions, including the transformation of most part of them into trade-economic departments of embassies," Denisov said.

In his words, this will enhance the concentration of human and information resources and the general coordination of external economic work. "First of all, this will be to the benefit of Russian business circles," said the deputy minister.

He said that promotion of Russian manufacturers' economic interests on foreign markets is one of the foreign ministry's priority tasks. "Active economization of the foreign policy is taking place in most countries of the world under the influence of globalization and the growth of international competition. In this respect, this country follows the world practice," Denisov said.

He noted that Russian companies have been actively entering the world markets in recent years. "This tendency will obviously intensify, and we are ready to render it any kind of support," the deputy minister said. The main thing, in his opinion, is to make this work systematic and well thought out. "On external markets we have to act as solid statesmen who aim at defending the interests of Russian companies before foreign competitors," Denisov stressed.
