TBILISI, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - Abkhazia, unrecognised republic in Georgia, is apprehensive of Georgia preparing a military operation. There are plans to reinforce the Kodori Gorge contingent within a few days, and regain Gali District control, Vyacheslav Eshba, Abkhaz Defence Minister, says in a written message he forwarded yesterday to General Kazi Asfak, head military observer of the UN monitoring mission for Georgia.

To use force on Abkhazia is the last thing Georgia intends to do. Its government is determined to recur to every possible political means to settle the issue peacefully, reassured Givi Iukuridze, Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. He was addressing the Imedi television in a live cast, reports Novosti/Georgia news agency.
