RIA Novosti learnt from the press service of the Kirghiz parliament that under this document servicemen of the Russian air base functioning in Kirghizia within the framework of the joint rapid-deployment forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (made up of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan, Armenia) get the status of technical staffers of the diplomatic mission. They get diplomatic immunity from criminal persecution by the local authorities.
Ratification of this agreement settles all the interstate legal questions regarding the status of the Russian military in Kirghizia.
A similar status in Kirghizia is also enjoyed by the American military stationed at the base of the antiterrorist coalition in the international airport Manas in the Kirghiz capital.
