BERLIN, May 11 (RIA Novosti) - No specific steps to create a united aircraft-building corporation have been made in Russia, Vyacheslav Rybakov, deputy head of the aircraft building department of the Russian Federal Agency for Industry, said at a press conference of the Sukhoi company that took place on Tuesday at the ILA-2004 aerospace show in Berlin.

"No concrete steps have been made on this road, as the new agency was formed only recently," he said. In his words, this issue has a primary significance and the agency will start addressing it soon.

"The idea to create a united aircraft-building corporation is the only right one, and we intend to actively support it," Rybakov said. "It's unreal to be competitive in comparison with Boeing and Airbus on one's own, that's why it's necessary to unite the efforts of the leading Russian manufacturers of aircraft equipment," he believes.

On his part, Sukhoi director general Mikhail Pogosyan noted that his enterprise is positive in regard to the idea of creation of a united aircraft-building corporation. "One can't do without cooperation," he believes.

Over 95% of Sukhoi's capacities are occupied by military purpose production now. But, Pogosyan stressed, efforts are becoming more active in the field of manufacturing civil aircraft.

"We plan to increase the share of civil production up to 35% and somewhat increase exports of military hardware," he said. In Pogosyan's words, the leadership of Sukhoi staked on the promising joint project with Boeing of a civil regional passenger aircraft for 60 to 95 seats.

Within the framework of the project to create the RRJ plane, the enterprise plans to manufacture over 800 aircraft. "On the basis of RRJ, we work on the idea of creation of a small business class aircraft," Pogosyan specified.
