SOLANA FORWARDS A MESSAGE TO PUTIN IN CONNECTION WITH TERRORIST ACT IN GROZNY

BRUSSELS, May 9 (RIA Novosti's Alexander Shishlo) - EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana has condemned today's terrorist act in Grozny and forwarded a message to President of Russia Vladimir Putin with words of support.

I condemn the terrorist act committed today in Grozny as a result of which President Kadyrov was killed. I sent a message of condolences and empathy to President Putin, says Solana's statement received by RIA Novosti.

He also expressed commiseration with the families and close relations of those killed as a result of the terrorist act.

An explosion went off at the Dynamo stadium in Grozny at 10.35 a.m. on Sunday. According to the preliminary data an unidentified explosive device was placed in the midst of the central grandstand where a concert on the occasion of Victory |Day was under way at that time. According to the latest data, as a result of the blast 53 people were wounded and four killed, including President of Chechnya Ahmad Kadyrov.
