DAMASCUS, May 9 (RIA Novosti) - The Syrians condemn today's act of terrorism in the Chechen capital of Grozny, which left four people dead, including the republic's President, Ahmad Kadyrov. This is according to Syrian MP Sherif Abaza, who leads the Circassian charity, an organization bringing together Syrian residents originally from the North Caucasus.

"We denounce the act of terror in Grozny, and are grieving for those killed and injured in it," the Syrian lawmaker said in a RIA Novosti interview. In his opinion, all such acts are interrelated, with their aim being to undermine stability in the world. The recent terrorist attack in Damascus was also aimed at undermining security and peace in Syria, he said.

"The Syrian people are against terrorism. As Syrian nationals and members of the North Caucasus diaspora, we wish that it would be done away and over with and that peace and calm would be restored both to our region as the Caucasus," our interviewee pointed out.

A bomb went off this morning in the VIP section of Grozny's Dynamo stadium where ceremonies to mark Viuctory Day were being held. Chechen President Ahmad Kadyrov was one of the four people killed in the resultant explosion. Forty-two others were wounded.
