TBILISI, May 8 (RIA Novosti) - Expensive foreign-made cars and thoroughbred dogs of former Adzharian leader Aslan Abashidze will be auctioned, said Georgian Prosecutor General Irakly Okruashvili Saturday.

"Abashidze spent an enormous sum of money that belongs to the Adzharian population on expensive cars and dogs," the prosecutor said live on the Rustavi-2 TV channel.

"Money received by means of an auction will go to the regional budget to finance social programs of Adzharia's poorest regions," he added.

The talk is about Hammer cars and a number of hounds and Caucasian shepherd dogs.

Okruashvili said Abashidze received guarantees of immunity, but the property he had stolen must be returned to the people.

The prosecutor also said that the Georgian prosecutor general's office is trying to trace the route of transfer of Abashidze's and his entourage's money from Batumi to European banks.

"Abashidze and his entourage took away from Georgia an immense sum of money. We are taking measures to return the money home," Okruashvili said.
