GEORGIA, RUSSIA SATISFIED WITH BILATERAL RELATIONS

MOSCOW, May 6 (RIA Novosti) - Foreign ministers of Russia and Georgia expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations.

"We are satisfied how relations between our countries are developing along all lines," Sergei Lavrov, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told newsmen after the end of his talks with Foreign Minister of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.

Mr. Lavrov noted that "highly interesting talks" took place.

In her turn, Ms. Zurabishvili said that the ministers agreed to solve all problems first at the level of experts and than to discuss them with each other. "We decided we would advance at a fast pace. The problems existing in our relations should not impede our cooperation," she said.

Russia is satisfied that the situation in Adzharia was settled peacefully, Lavrov also told reporters.

"We are satisfied with the fact that the situation in Adzharia was settled peacefully, without bloodshed", he said. Lavrov recalled that Russia always viewed this conflict as an internal affair of Georgia. "All steps taken by the Russian side were based on the accords reached between Moscow and Tbilisi," the Russian minister said.

"We received with satisfaction the statement made by president of Georgia Mikhail Saakishvili that the law and order would be promptly restored in Adzharia, there would be no reprisals or persecutions there , its autonomous status would be preserved and elections would be held there," Lavrov noted
