MOSCOW, May 4. (RIA Novosti) - Unacceptable use of force and restoration of trust between the parties are the key elements of the Georgian-Abkhazian settlement, the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said on Tuesday, when commenting on the negotiation progress.

According to the diplomat, "this conclusion was made even by international experts for security guarantees at a meeting held in Geneva on April 21-23 under the auspices of the UN Secretary General's special envoy for Georgia and the Geneva Center of Security Policy".

"Russia, which has a status of an assisting party in the Georgian-Abkhazian settlement, cooperates with the UN Secretary General's envoy and other UN bodies in order to establish dialog between Georgians and Abkhazians," Yakovenko pointed out.

Pointing to the need to intensify the activities of working groups set up in compliance with the agreements reached at the Sochi summit in March 2003, Yakovenko recalled that on April 26-27 Moscow hosted a session of the working group for refugee return, which became "an important practical move".

The Moscow meeting on issues of refugee return will give a new impulse to the Georgian-Abkhazian settlement, he believes.
