The session intended to discuss the situation in the presence of the country's Prime Minister and other government officials. They, however, did not arrive in the parliament.

"Until the expiry of the 10-day ultimatum delivered to the Adzharian leader by the Georgian president I believe that members of the government should not voice their positions in the country's legislature in order to avoid further escalation of tension," the parliament's speaker Nino Burdzhanadze announced at the session.

She also cancelled the decision of the parliament's bureau to adopt the parliament's statement on the situation obtaining in the last days in Adzharia.

As was announced on the morning session, on Tuesday the deputies will only adopt a statement on the situation in Adzharia, where they will express their hope that within the ten days given to Abashidze the autonomy's leadership will take positive steps to settle the strained relations with Tbilisi.

The second part of the parliament's Tuesday session will be totally devoted to debates on the situation in Adzharia, Novosti Georgia learned from the legislature's press service.

After the first news about the disperse of a rally in Batumi arrived, Burdzhanadze suspended the session.
