MOSCOW

* Several rallies and meeting will be held to mark May 1.

ST. PETERSBURG

* 5th International teenagers' theatre festival Raduga (Rainbow) will open in St. Petersburg. Twelve theatres from Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States and foreign countries will participate in the festival.

KRASNOYARSK

* Viktor Astafyev's museum will open in Ovsyanka (a village near Krasnoyarsk), the writer's birthplace, to mark his 80th birth anniversary.

RIGA

* Defenders of Russian schools are to hold a rally of protest. Up to 30,000 people, including schoolchildren and teachers of Russian schools, are expected to participate.
