KALININGRAD, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - The president of Russian Railways, a joint stock company, Gennady Fadeyev said that he saw no obstacles for the railway traffic after the Baltic countries officially join the European Union on May 1.

"I see no obstacles here. We have made preparations on both sides. There is a unanimous opinion that previous border regulations will remain in force," Mr. Fadeyev said to reporters in Kaliningrad.

According to him, Russian and Lithuanian customs have agreed to exchange information about cargo that is transported to and from Kaliningrad.

"This will facilitate the transportation of cargo across the border," said Mr. Fadeyev.

When commenting on the medical inspections of the cargo, Mr. Fadeyev emphasised, "I see no reason for concern about this issue." "We will cooperate with the Lithuanian side if any warning is issued," said Mr. Fadeyev.
