MOSCOW, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and Japan have coordinated 97% of items in the talks on Russia's joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov told journalists on Friday.

Russia's joining the WTO was on the agenda of Mr. Zhukov's talks with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Shoichi Nakagawa.

"We have made much progress in bilateral talks with Japan on joining the WTO," Mr. Zhukov said. He said that he hopes the remaining problems will be solved soon.

According to him, the talks with the Japanese minister also focused on bilateral trade and economic and fuel and energy cooperation, in particular, an oil pipeline project from Angarsk (Siberia) to the Asia-Pacific region and the construction of an energy bridge between Sakhalin (a Russian island in the Pacific) and Japan.
