WARSAW, April 29 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow expects the EU enlargement to cardinally change the status of the Russian minority in Latvia and Estonia, Russian President's special envoy for relations with the European Union Sergei Yastrzhembsky said at the roundtable entitled "Russia and Europe: Friends or Enemies?" as part of the European Economic Summit in Warsaw on Thursday.
According to him, Russia welcomes EU's intention to start the talks on easing visa regulations in 2004 already. Moscow hopes for a positive solution of this problem and signing of a relevant agreement, Sergei Yastrzhembsky noted.
Moscow considers the European Union a strong partner and does not want to change this position in the future, he added.
In his opinion, Russia and the EU are responsible for security and stability in Europe.
Russia-EU regular political dialogue promotes common understanding on vital international issues, he said.
