EUROPEAN ECONOMIC SUMMIT IN WARSAW

WARSAW, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - European Economic Summit Europe: Enlargement and Further Prospects is beginning its work in the capital of Poland on Wednesday, April 28.

Founder of the Davos World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab noted in the interview with RIA Novosti that the participants of the summit in Warsaw would try to answer the global question "What will the EU's essence be after the enlargement, and what will happen to Europe?" On May 1, 2004 ten new states of Central and Eastern Europe - three Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia), Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Cyprus (only its internationally recognized Greek, part), and Malta will enter the European Union.

About 700 representatives of political and economic elite from 45 countries, including presidents, prime ministers and ministers of 31 states, will take part in the Forum's work.

The Russian delegation will be headed by Sergei Yastrzhembsky, assistant to the president of Russia and the president's special envoy for development of relations with the European Union.

On April 29 Mr. Yastrzhembsky will participate in the discussion Russia and Europe: Friends or Enemies? within the European Forum.

During the European Economic Forum the opponents of globalization are to hold their "antiforum"in Warsaw.

According to certain information, about 15,000 anti-globalists will gather in the capital of Poland.
