RUSSIAN FINANCE MINISTER ON IRAQ'S DEBT TO RUSSIA

WASHINGTON, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin believes it premature to talk about writing off Iraq's debt.

"Everybody is waiting for the results of the IMF probe, and it is not only Russia's opinion but also that of G-8 nations that it is still early to talk about any serious, considerable writing off," Mr. Kudrin told Russian reporters in Washington.

At present, IMF experts are studying the economic situation in Iraq, but their actions in this country are complicated by the economic chaos and on-going military activities.

Iraq's debt to Russia makes about $8 billion.
