RUSSIA'S SECRET SERVICE ACTIVE AT ARMS SHOW

MOSCOW, April 23 (RIA Novosti) - The SOFEX 2004, a 5th international arms and emergency technologies show, is soon opening in Jordan. Russia's Federal Security Service, or FSB, intends to demonstrate defusing equipment and devices to render explosives harmless, reports the press service of Rosoboronexport Co., government commercial mediator and overseas promoter of military industrial produce.

Russia is planning many public introductions. Among the most spectacular will be an online FSB demonstration of defusers of many classes, and machinery to neutralise explosives for safe removal to be examined and destroyed. The Rosoboronexport spokesman Novosti has interviewed expects nonlethal weaponry to make a sensation. Multipurpose grenade-throwers with combined-action grenades aim to knock out or at least send into panic hoodlums and armed terrorists.

The Izhevsk-based Kupol electromechanical works, known for pioneer short-range anti-aircraft arms, will show its updated AA missile installations of the OSA class, which is generally considered one of the most efficient and reliable air defence weapons.
