KHRISTENKO NOTES ACTIVE INTERACTION OF RUSSIAN, JAPANESE BUSINESS

MOSCOW, April 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko, at talks with the group of Japanese businessmen, noted active interaction of Russian and Japanese businesses.

"The meeting fixes the active process of interaction between the Japanese and Russian businesses, which is becoming a good tradition," said the minister, the Russian industry and energy ministry press release reads.

Yesterday night the ministry hosted talks with a group of Japanese businessmen making part of the top of the Japanese-Russian committee on economic cooperation and representing the leading Japanese energy and engineering corporations, headed by committee chairman, the president of Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd, Kunio Anzai. Representatives of Japan's largest corporations Marubeni, Mitsui, Hitachi, and Nippon Steel took part in the talks.

The sides discussed the course of realization of the Sakhalin oil and gas projects and the project to deliver liquefied natural gas from Sakhalin oil deposits to Japan, as well as realization of other projects in the sphere of energy and industry with Japanese companies' participation.

Khristenko stressed the importance of development of bilateral Russian-Japanese relations in the economic sphere, noting that the interests of the Japanese business are not confined to the "Moscow site." "It's important that Japanese business is familiarizing itself with practically the whole territory of Russia, starting from the Far East to big industrial centers, including in Siberia and Urals," the minister said.
