MOSCOW, April 21 (RIA Novosti) - Taking the decision to withdraw troops from Iraq, the Spanish leadership has demonstrated political might , Vice President of the Geopolitical Research Academy, former chief of the international military cooperation department of the Russian Defense Ministry, Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov told journalists on Wednesday.
According to him, "the present Spanish authorities understand that Spanish soldiers in Iraq are dying for the interests of the American oil companies". That is why this decision is highly important, he added.
"If the US policy in Iraq is still aimed at the defense of oil companies' interests it will lead to a large-scale war of the Islamic world against the US. The current developments in Iraq confirm this," Leonid Ivashov said.
