RUSSIAN-AMERICAN JOINT ENTERPRISE SIGNED NEW CONTRACTS FOR LAUNCHES BY "PROTON" BOOSTER

MOSCOW, April 20 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian-American joint enterprise International Launch Services (ILS) signed new contracts for launching telecommunication satellites by means of the "Proton" booster.

It was reported in the Scientific-Manufacture Centre of Hrunichev press release received by RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

It is scheduled to launch the AMC-16 satellite owned by the SES AMERICOM company in the beginning of 2006. In the fall of the same year the ASTRA-1L satellite owned by the SES ASTRA company is planned to be launched. Both satellites are being manufactured by the Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems company on the basis of A2100 platform.

ILS comprises the American Lockheed Martin corporation and its Russian partners - the "Hrunichev" Scientific-Production Centre and "Energia" Space Rocket corporation.

The joint enterprise ILS conducts marketing of the heavy class launch vehicles "Proton" (Russia) and "Atlas" in the world market.
