MOSCOW, April 15 (RIA Novosti) - The Strasbourg rights court has made the Platon Lebedev case top priority. The Menatep bank president's lawyers applied to it quite recently.

"I have just heard about the European rights court having replied to our complaint. The Lebedev case will be considered on a priority arrangement," Elena Lipzer, one of the applicants, said to the media.

The procedure demands a Russian government memo saying whether human rights were abused or not on the Lebedev case.

The lawyers' complaint highlighted non-compliance with many clauses of the European rights convention, said Miss Lipzer.

The Meshansky district court of Moscow has suspended preliminary Lebedev hearings for a short time. The lawyer expects them to resume tomorrow. The banker lawyers' team will make another appeal the same day to have their client bailed off as the Strasbourg court is ready to consider his case. The Moscow court turned down a similar appeal today.

Platon Lebedev is suspected of tax evasion and big swindles.
