YEREVAN, April 14 (RIA Novosti) - The opposition in Armenia again organizes a rally demanding that the president resign.

Albert Bazeyan, the leader of the Respublika party, making part of the Justice opposition bloc, said Wednesday that the bloc's political council decided to organize another rally of the opposition on Freedom Square in Yerevan on April 16.

In the early hours of April 13, the police used special means to disperse an opposition rally near the building of Armenia's parliament. After that, the authorities banned unsanctioned mass actions.

On Wednesday, Armenian President Robert Kocharyan said, "The responsibility for what happened [during the rally dispersion] first of all lies with the forces advocating political extremism," the presidential press service reports. In Mr. Kocharyan's words, the police used only legal methods to establish order.

"Today, the opposition has a chance to return to normal work; if this does not happen and the opposition follows another path, the authorities have legal resources to ensure the security of people, and to prevent any manifestations of lawlessness," the president stressed.

The opposition is seeking to introduce amendments and additions to the law "On Referendum," which would make it possible to hold a referendum on the issue of confidence in president Robert Kocharyan.

Representatives of the three parties making part of the ruling coalition - the Republican, Orinats Erkir and Dashnaktsutyun, - refused to accept the opposition's proposal to hold a referendum on confidence in the incumbent authority.
