MOSCOW, April 11 (RIA Novosti) - On the International Cosmonautics Day to be celebrated on April 12, one of the Moscow cinemas will hold a Russian premiere of the first three-dimensional film made on the international space station and on the Earth's orbit with the use of the IMAX technology.

As NASA coordinator for public relations in Russia Sergei Puzanov said, the film under the name "3D Space Station" was made during the launch, flight and the docking of the shuttle vehicle, during several outer space walks; at the Russian Baikonur and the US Cape Canaveral space centers, and also on board the international space station.

According to Mr. Puzanov, the process of filmmaking on the international space station and in outer space proceeded with the use of special IMAX 3D space video cameras with an especially complex system of lenses. The IMAX analog systems use films that are over 60 millimeters wide or twice as wide as ordinary 35-mm films, making it possible to create impressively resolute pictures on a screen that is higher than a three-storey building. In its turn, 3D three-dimensional surrounding sound makes it possible to reproduce a full feeling of reality on the Earth.

"The film creators especially praised Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalyov who had learnt skillfully to work with the video camera in the conditions of zero gravity," Mr. Puzanov said. Sergei Krikalyov also underwent operating cameraman training to deal professionally with that equipment.

The US version of the 3D Space Station film was synchronized by famous Hollywood actor Tom Cruise who had specially flown into the Stellar City, while Russian popular actor Sergei Bezrukov became a Russian-language guide for space flights.
