COMMISSION ESTABLISHED TO LOOK INTO MINE ACCIDENT

MOSCOW, April 10 (RIA Novosti) - A commission to look into the causes of the accident on the Taizhina mine in Siberia has been formed in the Russian government, the government information department told RIA Novosti.

The commission was created on Russian Premier Mikhail Fradkov's instruction. Sergei Oganesyan, who heads the Federal Energy Agency, became its chief.

The accident on the Taizhina mine occurred at 2:55 a.m. Moscow time.

The Kemerovo region administration press service told RIA Novosti that by preliminary data, emission of methane caused the tragedy, after which rock failure happened.

20 miners are reported to have been killed in the accident.
