TASHKENT, APRIL 5 - (RIA Novosti) - David Dreier, now in Tashkent as the head of a delegation of US congressmen, told reporters that the USA was prepared to render assistance in probing into the recent acts of terrorism committed in Uzbekistan. He said that the help of his country could be of major support and that together they could re-establish stability, improve the situation and boost living standards.
Asked about the probability of Al-Qaeda's complicity in last week's acts of terrorism in Uzbekistan, Congressman Dreier denied any definite answer.
Speaking about bilateral relations, Mr.Dreier said his country was willing to encourage investment in Uzbekistasn.
Dreier assured the press-conference that his country would continue to develop bilateral relations with Uzbekistan in politics, economics, democracy and human rights.
The US Congressmen who arrived in Tashkent yesterday met Monday with Uzbek Foreign Minister Sadyk Safaev. Under review were Uzbek-American relations, the further development and consolidation of inter-parliamentary links, regional security and the situation in Afghanistan.
