MOSCOW, April 4, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Fans of two Moscow-based rival soccer clubs, CSKA and Spartak, are reported to have had a violent clash on the city's southwestern outskirts earlier today. Police eventually broke up the clash, arresting about forty fans, most of them youngsters.

Three of those involved in the fight reportedly sustained serious knife wounds while several others were left with various fractures.

Police are now trying to identify the instigators of the clash. This latest outburst of Moscow soccer fan violence occurred in a neighborhood with no large football stadium and on a day for which no major match had been scheduled.
