TBILISI, April 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili comes out for maximum easing of visa regulations between Russia and Georgia "with account for ordinary people's interests." "Probably, we should not abolish visa regulations completely, but people should not be queuing by embassies to cross the border," Mr. Saakashvili told journalists on Saturday.

Russia's attitude to Georgia has changed for the better, he noted. "Our policy concerning Russia is clear and we don't play any games with anyone," he added.

According to him, "Russia's position during the Georgian-Adzharian tensions in early March was a positive mark in bilateral relations".

"The commander of the Russian military base in Batumi was changed. No weapons or ammunition were removed from this base in the period of tensions," the Georgian President said.
