RUSSIAN, CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTERS MEET IN BERLIN

BERLIN, April 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russian and Chinese Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Li Zhaoxing discussed forthcoming bilateral contacts, including the terms of the next summit, in Berlin.

According to Sergei Lavrov, at issue was Moscow-Beijing cooperation within the UN and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (including Russia, China and four Central Asian republics of the former Soviet Union) and interaction on international problems.

The Chinese side focused on the solution of Afghanistan's problems and the North Korean nuclear issue, the Russian Foreign Minister told journalists.

Moscow and Beijing agree that it is necessary to patiently achieve a political solution of the North Korean problem, he added.
