Automatic-protection systems were activated only once at the Kalinin nuclear power plant's No. 2 power unit in the Central federal district last month.
That power unit's safety system switched off the main circulation pump because its electric motor's cable insulation had developed a malfunction, the press release explains.
Power units were operated safely enough in line with preset standards; no violations were registered in this sphere. The radiation situation didn't change in the vicinity of NPP-s, the document reads in part.
The document claims that there were no violations during the operation of research reactors over the March 2004 period. At the same time, automatic-protection systems were switched on four times, the nuclear-safety administration reports.
There were no deviations from preset modes; and the radiation situation is normal, the press release stresses.
According to the press release, a cable snapped inside a Tyumen-region well (Western Siberia) during geo-physical operations, which were conducted by the Surgut-Nefte-Gas joint-stock company in late March. A geo-physical device replete with an ionizing-radiation source was left inside the well. Work is now proceeding apace to remove that device.
The on-site radiation situation is normal, reports the nuclear-safety administration.
