WASHINGTON, March 31, 2004 (RIA Novosti's Arkady Orlov) - The composition of the new government shows that now the Russian cabinet will pursue a far more liberal economic policy, said former Deputy Prime Minister, ex-Finance Minister Boris Fedorov.

When speaking to US political scientists in the Carnegie Endowment on Tuesday, Mr. Fedorov in particular described Alexander Zhukov appointed deputy prime minister in the new government as a loyal market advocate.

"I am very optimistic about the economic sphere," said the former deputy prime minister. In his opinion, the Russian economy will follow the right course, given "fiscal responsibility" is preserved in the new cabinet's actions.
