NATIONAL MOVEMENT PARTY LEADS THE POLL IN GEORGIA

TBILISI, March 30, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - According to the Central Election Commission of Georgia, as of 7 p.m., March 30, the computer center had processed 1,330,677 ballot papers from 2,422 polling stations, i.e. 80% of the total number of ballot papers, the press service of the Central Election Commission told Novosti-Georgia.

The initial results are as follows: the ruling party, the National Movement - Democrats (led by President Mikhail Saakashvili) has won 66.23%, the Right-Wing Opposition bloc: Industrialists - New (leaders David Gamkrelidze and Gogi Topadze) - 7.55%. These two parties have already cleared the 7% hurdle.

The Union of Democratic Revival party (led by Adzharian President Aslan Abashidze) has garnered 6.71%, the Labor Party of Georgia (led by Shalva Natelashvili) - 5.90%, the Tavisupleba movement (led by Konstantin Gamsakhurdia) - 4.36%, the NDP - Traditionalists (led by Akaky Asatiani and Bachuki Kardava) - 2.54%, and the Ertoba bloc (led by Dzhumber Patiashvili) - 2.34% of votes.

The rest of the parties have garnered less than 1% of votes.

0.19% have voted against all the candidates.
