TASHKENT, MARCH 29. (RIA NOVOSTI). -- Islam Karimov, President of Uzbekistan, has said that the terrorist acts committed in his country in the last 24 hours were planned before with support from abroad.

"It is becoming clear that the events which have happened yesterday and today in Tashkent and the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan were prepared before and thoroughly with support from the extremist forces beyond", Karimov said appearing on the Uzbek television.

The president said that these acts of terrorism have been preceded by at least six months of preparation. "I suppose they were to happen during the Navruz holiday. The security forces foiled those plans".

"Unfortunately, innocent people have died as a result of the terrorist attacks. Investigation has discovered a large amount of explosives. On this basis, the conclusion can be drawn that the main goal of the organisers of these crimes was to break peace of the people, bring tumult in society, undermine the country's political course", Karimov said.

"As the president I promise that everything will be done to find the guilty", said Karimov and called on the people of Uzbekistan to be vigilant.

According to the prosecutor general of Uzbekistan, the acts of terrorism have killed 19 and wounded 26 people.
