RUSSIA STOCKING UP GOLD, SAYS WGC

MOSCOW, MARCH 26, 2004 (RIA NOVOSTI). Russia goes on stocking gold, whose share is increasing in its gold and currency reserves-390.2 tonnes early this month, as against 388.2, early December last, the World Gold Council reports on its official web site.

Russia is steadily ranking the world's 14th for the share of gold in national gold and currency reserves, though the share of gold has dwindled to 5.9% in March, 7.4% in December 2003 .

The global amount of gold in all national gold and currency reserves was 28,411,000 tonnes early this month.

The USA leads the world with 8,135,000 tonnes, or 58.5% of the national gold and currency reserves. Germany comes second with 3,440,000 tonnes, 46.5%. France closely follows-3,025,000 tonnes, 52.8%.

The WGC is a global nonprofit organisation of gold item manufacturers, with more than thirty world's largest corporate gold-miners on it.
