TOKYO, MARCH 23. (RIA NOVOSTI). The centrepiece of the Russian exhibition at the world show EXPO-2005 in Nagoya in Japan may be a mammoth head, Alexander Kalmychek, representative of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan, told RIA Novosti.

It was earlier supposed to bring to the show a whole mammoth, found by Russian researchers in Sakha-Yakutia. It is a Russian autonomy in East Siberia five times larger than France, Kalmychek said. Transportation problems and the high cost of survey work today may make it only a well-preserved mammoth head.

On January 16, 2004 the relative memorandum was signed with representatives of the Japanese government, Kalmychek said.

The Russian side insisted on the mammoth head exposure in Nagoya as part of the Russian exhibition, hoping that it will attract many visitors, Kalmychek noted.

The Russian pavilion may have a special kiosk selling articles made of mammoth bones and tusks, he added.
