RUSSIAN NAVY COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF KUROEDOV REJECTS MEDIA REPORTS ON PETR VELIKI CRUISER'S CRITICAL STATE

MOSCOW, MARCH 23. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- The nuclear safety of the Northern fleet's flagship the Petr Veliki heavy nuclear missile cruiser is well provided for, Admiral Vladimir Kuroedov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, has said. He was commenting on some media reports on the ship's lamentable state.

"The cruiser's nuclear safety service is OK and meeting all the requirements", he said.

However, the condition of the living and general quarters of the cruiser is unsatisfactory and across the lines of the Navy Regulations, Kuroedov said.

Thus, the media reports that the Petr Veliki is in the critical state are not true to fact, the commander-in-chief resumed.

He has ordered three weeks of reorganisation to put things in order in the cruiser.

Admiral Kuroedov has promised personally to check the rectification of faults, after which the cruiser will be put back in service.
